An occupationally competent assessor assesses your skills and knowledge through a portfolio of workplace evidence. Observation, photographs, videos, work records and witness testimonies may be used where appropriate to the unit requirements.

Your assessor agrees your assessment plan, explains unit requirements, helps identify suitable evidence and provides portfolio reviews and feedback throughout your NVQ.

This qualification/pathway has a minimum of 198 Guided Learning Hours and 321 hours of Total Qualification Time. These are different measures and do not guarantee a fixed completion date.

The expected programme timeframe is approximately 6 weeks, depending on evidence readiness, assessor arrangements and successful assessment and quality assurance.

Total fee £750 GBP. Pay £300 at registration. The remaining £450 must be paid within 3 weeks of registration or before your assessor’s site visit or workplace assessment, whichever comes first.

This NVQ assesses competence in your workplace role. You need access to relevant general construction / groundworks activities and evidence opportunities. An initial assessment helps confirm whether the qualification is suitable; it is not a substitute for the training and supervision needed to work safely.

Yes. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be considered under the awarding organisation’s rules. Speak to your assessor about relevant previous qualifications, learning and workplace experience. Your assessor will check that evidence is valid, authentic, current, reliable and sufficient for the required units. Further evidence or assessment may be needed. RPL does not automatically award units or guarantee a shorter completion time.

Relevant task records, drawings, specifications, method statements and other work documents may support your evidence where appropriate. Your assessor will explain which records demonstrate the required skills and knowledge. Obtain permission before sharing employer or client information.

Witness testimonies can support your portfolio where permitted and appropriate. Your assessor must still establish that all performance and knowledge requirements are met using assessment methods allowed for the units.

Photographs and videos may support relevant unit requirements when your assessor accepts them. Agree what to capture first, obtain any employer or site permission, protect other people’s privacy and follow site safety rules. Evidence must show your own work authentically.

Your assessor will identify the missing or insufficient evidence and explain the further evidence or assessment needed. Certification cannot be claimed until the required units have been successfully assessed and quality assured.
